Hi there
I recently bought the Huawei E1550 modem on the 3 Network. I'm now overseas and want to unlock it, I have successfully installed the modem, but if I unplug and plug it in again then it starts trying to install it again.
I have tried using DC unlocker, but it doesn't find the modem. I have also tried using Mobile Partner to no avail.
Sometimes when I plug the modem in it says 'this device has malfuctioned etc etc.' error message
I hope someone can help, been trying to fix this for 2 days now. I'm running Vista

Are you sure all drivers and software are installed? Let the modem to finish installing if starts to install.
If you can not detect modem you should check the fallowing:
Check, if the drivers are installed
Check, if the connection software for this modem is closed and modem is not connected to internet
Check, if you use autodetect function in dc-unlocker software
Check, if you use latest dc-unlocker software version.

Well i'm never sure if it's properly installed even though it says it has. Like I said even though vista tells me it has been installed successfully, when I plug the device in again it starts the installation process again. I have just plugged it in now, and it's doing nothing at all, apart from flashing blue. I heard the windows sound when I plugged it in, but that's it. And when I look at 'my computer' it's not there

Same on Mac. It always mounts driver partition. Try disabling autorun on that drive.

How do I disable the autorun?, sorry i'm not great at this kind of stuff.
Also I just checked Ports Com and LPT in Device manager and it calls the device 'Huawei Mobile Connect - 3G USB Fake'
A bit worrying!

Apparently it was conflicting with VMware, so I removed it and hay presto!
Absolutely ecstatic :))

What connection software do you use with this modem? Original connection software?
